January Meeting - 2 Hours BFTS Training

We all know effective leadership matters in running our schools, but do you wonder about how to create and sustain it?
The Montessori Administrators of Georgia is here to help!

Join us as we kick off the new year with an inspirational meeting and a special training opportunity on leadership and professionalism conducted by Ms. Susan Penston of Quality Care for Children (click for downloadable PDF).

2 Hours BFTS Training – Get a jump on the new year!
MAG General Meeting Thursday, January 16, 2020 9:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Arbor Montessori School
2998 Lavista Rd
Decatur, GA 30033

Training Presented by Quality Care for Children
A Model for Leadership - Susan Penston, Professional Learning Community & Administrative Specialist QUALITY CARE FOR CHILDREN
Professional Learning Community
This portion of the training focuses on what is a Professional Learning Community (PLC), why they are useful, and how they differ from traditional training practices. A short power point presentation on What is a Professional Learning Community? will be shown. The power point will support explanation of a PLC and participants’ understanding of a PLC, explain why leadership is so important, and suggest how collaboration with colleagues can yield wonderful solutions and results.
Community Agreement
One of the major hurdles to overcome when leading a group of people and keeping them unified is that individuals must have the capacity to be considerate and active listeners. In addition to fine tuning listening skills, ground rules also need to be established. Participants will learn how to support an understanding of Active Listening and develop or refine a sample Community Agreement. Discussion will also determine how this can be of benefit in participants’ programs as well as for MAG.
Guiding Question
Participants will review the outcomes from the first part to determine which of the items to begin to dissect as a Guiding Question. Participants will also complete a Success Analysis Protocol. Developing a Guiding Question helps steer the group to have a purpose. The Guiding Question also supports ideas and focus for future meetings.
Provides 2 hours of Intermediate ADM Level BFTS training.
