Accommodation Details 

​Room registrations ARE NOT included in your conference registration fee. Participants have an option to stay at the Smith House, or to arrange their own accommodations. Please contact the Smith House directly to make room reservations. Mention “MAG” to book a room in the Lodge, where the conference will be held.

​Val Alino — 
Creating the Community You Want to Be

Val will use her experience as a Life Coach and Conscious Parenting Coach to help you examine your own school and community. What is going well, and where do you go from here? Leave with inspiration and tangible ideas to create the community you want to be.

Val Alino holds an AMI Primary certification and an A to I AMI diploma. She has worked in education in Mexico, Spain, India, and the U.S.A for over 27 years. A former board member of the Montessori Institute of Atlanta, and involved with the formation of the Montessori Administrators of Georgia; she is also the former owner and director of Decatur Montessori School. She’s a role model for transformation and motivated by the challenges associated with connecting people and organizations, and creating strong communities.

Catherine McTamaney — To Live Deliberately

Delve into our ideas of community, equity, and inclusion. What does it mean to us? What does it mean for our school communities and the populations we serve?

Catherine McTamaney is an award-winning teacher, Associate Professor, and Director of Undergraduate Studies for the Department of Teaching and Learning at Vanderbuilt University. Professor McTamaney works primarily with undergraduates in Peabody’s teacher licensure programs. In addition to her teaching at Vanderbilt, she is the author of two books on Montessori education and compassionate teaching, The Tao of Montessori and A Delicate Task, and a noted Montessori lecturer across the US and abroad.

Annie Frazer — Expanding Access to Montessori

What role can you play? What frameworks are in place to help you? Annie will guide participants in exploring ways to support the work of broadening access to Montessori. Annie’s passion is extending Montessori access to low-income families, and participants will leave this presentation with a greater understanding of the many ways this is being done in Georgia.

Annie Frazer has a passion for expanding access to high-quality Montessori education. She holds a BA in English
and theater from Oberlin College, an MA in education from Stanford University, an AMI Montessori elementary
diploma from the Bergamo Montessori Training Centre, and AMI Montessori certification at the adolescent level.
Annie has ten years of experience as a Montessori adolescent teacher and administrator at Arbor Montessori School and worked as a middle school teacher in DeKalb County Schools. In the summers, she serves on the faculty of the AMI Montessori Orientation to Adolescent Studies
